Derek Chauvin Sentenced To 22.5 Years For Murder Of George Floyd in USA
Former Minneapolis police officer, Derek Chauvin, has been sentenced to 22 years and six months in prison for murdering George Floyd, Afrilyn.com reports the verdict that took place on Friday, June 25, 2021.
Recall that 2 months ago, a jury convicted Chauvin in the death of Floyd, a 46-year-old Black man and father. On May 25, 2020, Chauvin knelt on Floyd’s neck for 9 minutes and 29 seconds after detaining him on suspicion of passing a counterfeit bill. Floyd begged for mercy as his air supply dwindled. This led to his untimely death.
